SPECIAL COMMITTEES (established by the President):
- 2003 Convention Committee
- Plan and help host a welcome reception for convention delegates.
- Plan and assemble welcome gifts for delegates.
- Plan activities for delegates and their spouses/families (e.g., tours, golf tournament, etc.).
- Help International with banquet planning.
- Group Life Insurance Committee
- Research and recommend alternative group life insurance plans.
- Training Committee (chairperson & (1) member)
- Plan the annual stewards training prior to caucus.
- Develop training plan for officers and stewards.
STANDING COMMITTEES (in accordance with Article XIV of the By-Laws):
- Executive Board (composed as specified in Article XII, Sect 1 of By-Laws)
- Shall be vested with discretionary power and full authority to act on any matter which can not be deferred until the next regular membership meeting subject to the limitation of the Local's By-Laws.
- Shall be empowered to authorize such expenditures of the funds of the Local as in it's judgement, as necessary to carry out and fulfill the purpose and objectives of the Local.
- Laws/By-Laws Committee (chairperson & (2) other members)
- Review by-law changes submitted by other committees and make proposed administrative changes to work them into the by-laws.
- Take the necessary actions as required by the local's by-laws to bring the by-law changes to the floor.
- Have the by-law changes that are ratified added to the local's by-laws.
- Membership Committee (chairperson & as many members as necessary)
- Distribute shirts to new members, and maintain records to verify that each new member receives a shirt (or IFPTE logo item).
- Distribute organizing rebate checks.
- Distribute/mail almanacs to members (including retirees).
- Develop program to organize new members.
- Develop program to increase involvement of members (e.g., attend meetings, participate in committees, organize membership drives, etc.).
- Keep informed on status of the membership and report at regular meetings any person working contrary to the principles of Local 121.
- Welfare Committee (chairperson & (1) member)
- Report any member sick or in distress, unemployed or in need of assistance.
- Keep alive the interest of good fellowship and well-being among the members.
- Negotiating Committee (chairperson & (1) member each from Unit I & II)
- Shall be responsible for negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreement (contract) with the employer of each Unit.
- Track status of all negotiations.
- Public Relations Committee (chairperson & (1) member)
- Assist the President in preparing releases to the news media and participate in other public relations activities as designated by the President.
- Meetings Arrangement Committee (chairperson & (1) member)
- Make arrangements for all meetings of Local 121 as designated by the President.
- Nominating Committee (chairperson & (1) member)
- Shall be responsible for the nomination and election of all elective offices except Unit Vice Presidents, who are elected by members of each Unit.
- Seek candidates for elective office.
- Accept petitions containing names of candidates for elective office.
- Determine eligibility of each candidate i.a.w. by-laws.
- Notify each candidate of their eligibility and obtain their consent to serve.
- Refer to by-laws for additional duties.
